CCS Proudly Celebrates Schools Selected as US NEWS Best

Craven County Schools Celebrates

The US News and World Report recently published the first-ever rankings of public elementary and middle schools, and the news is good for Craven County Schools: 4 schools earned a Best Elementary

Schools Badge and 1 school earned a Best Middle Schools Badge because they place among the top 30% in the state. Public elementary and middle schools that earned U.S. News rankings in the top 30%

in their state gained eligibility to display a U.S. News award “badge” (logo). In addition to the Best Elementary Schools and Best Middle Schools badges.

For each state, schools were assessed on their pupils’ proficiencies in mathematics and reading, as measured by state assessment tests. Half of the ranking formula was the results themselves; the other half was the results in the context of socioeconomic demographics. In other words, the top-ranked schools are high achieving ones that succeeded in educating all of their students. All data for the rankings are from third-party sources, including the U.S. Department of Education.

Based on the rankings, the following elementary schools were designated to receive a Best Elementary

School Badge:

● AH Bangert Elementary School

● Creekside Elementary School

● Graham A. Barden Elementary School

● WJ Gurganus Elementary School

 

Based on the rankings, the following middle school was designated to receive a Best Middle School

Badge:

● Tucker Creek Middle School
