Grover C. Fields Middle Schools team that personifies a professional learning community

On December 7, 2019, the Craven County Board of Education and Grover C. Fields Middle School spotlighted a High Performing Professional Learning Team.  Robert John Meehan has said, “the most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other.  Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives.” This statement reinforces the importance for developing and growing professional learning communities.  Many times, this community begins with one simple tool - trust.  Trust in your fellow colleagues to bring their best efforts and desires forward to each and every task that must be addressed through the role and responsibility assigned to you, “the teacher”.  Being able to express differing points of view, respect each other’s opinions, and work comfortably toward consensus of tasks helps create the foundation for strong instructional conversations.  These conversations have the ultimate goal of identifying strong instructional practices that will engage and ignite young minds while at the same time meeting state expectations for learning.

At Grover C. Fields Middle School there is a team that consistently personifies a professional learning community.  Individually, they bring with them knowledge of content, instructional practices, and classroom management expertise that when combined together create a powerhouse for learning.  They have stepped out of their comfort zones and have embarked on a new journey to move Grover C. Fields forward toward performance excellence through their leadership.

It is with great pride that we recognize and shine the spotlight on the Grover C. Fields School Improvement Team of teachers, Ms. Lori Sugg, Mr. Randal Siler, Mr. Matt Bowman, Ms. Myra Snyder, Ms. Patricia Harrison, Mr. Cheyenne Surber, Ms. Carol Coddington, Ms. April Hall, Mr. Jeff Klemmer, and Ms. Jodi Elbing for their dedication and support in leading and inspiring Grover C. Fields Middle School to be greater than ever!
