On May 8, 2019, the Craven County Board of Education and J.T. Barber Elementary School spotlighted Ms. Christina Webster, Media Coordinator for the Global Education Digital Badge. Ms. Webster is very deserving of this recognition especially with her recent participation with the EdCat Academy and the Apple Spark Cohort. The EdCat Academy is designed to create professional development for Craven County and eventually the state of North Carolina for technology CEUs. Each member of the academy creates a course using canvas that other teachers will take next year to receive continuing education credits. Ms. Webster’s canvas course is developed around teaching educators how to use the application pages to create presentations and assignments for their students and how to then send them out to their class.
The Apple Spark Cohort gives educators trainings from apple certified instructors on how to use various applications on their iPads. Ms. Webster has attended trainings for keynote, pages, and numbers. Ms. Webster’s students have been able to use pages to create poetry presentations aligned with the ELA curriculum. They have also used numbers to organize information they are currently learning on animal defense mechanisms. Ms. Webster has been able to teach the other fourth grade class these same skills as well as their teacher and hopes to be able to teach other classes as the year progresses.
Thank you, Ms. Webster for taking the initiative to excel in technology and share your knowledge with the staff and students at J.T. Barber Elementary School.
