WCH Teacher of the Year - Mrs. Toni Williams

Prestonia Williams

Teacher of the Year

West Craven High School

West Craven High School is proud to present as our 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Prestonia Williams. Mrs. Williams is a dedicated math teacher who strives to ensure her students are successful. She began her career in Craven County over 23 years ago at Grover C. Fields Middle School. From there she moved to West Craven Middle School and in 2006 she became a part of the Eagle family joining the newly formed Freshman Academy. She has been sharing her talents in Eagle Nation ever since. Mrs. Williams has a heart for students beginning their high school career. Most of her students are in 9th grade since she teaches Math I. She helps get students started on the right track and she never forgets them. She is also an integral part of her Math I PLC team.

Mrs. Williams doesn’t limit her work to the freshman class. She keeps up with her students, attending athletic, performing arts and other after school events. All seniors know her name because she is the queen of graduation planning. She ensures that each graduate has everything they need to walk across the stage and receive their diploma. She spends countless hours throughout the school year making sure our Senior Eagles’ graduation day is perfect. No one knows everything that she does because she is too humble to brag about it. Among other things, we know she lines up help, rents chairs, gets the program together, orders diplomas and ensures everyone is where they are supposed to be on the big day. Sometimes we think she’s even found a way to keep the weather under control for the ceremony.

Mrs. Williams never calls attention to herself, preferring to stay out of the limelight. She puts children first in everything that she does. Her students are comfortable knowing they can come to her for help when they need it, whether it’s a math concept they can’t quite grasp or because they forgot to order their cap and gown and they need her to work a miracle in the final week of school.

Mrs. Williams, we thank you for all that you do for West Craven High School!
