Week of January 7-11

Here are the announcements for the week of January 7-11:

It feels great being back in school! As we move into our first full week of school in 2019, I would like to take this time to again emphasize the importance of your child being in school each day. Student collaboration is a proven effective instructional strategy to maximize student learning. Your child's presence is necessary to facilitate this process daily in the classroom. You can help by making sure your child arrives to school on time prepared with the required materials. Also, please remind your child to follow the behavior expectations of HJM. Let's continue our partnership in creating the atmosphere that will maximize the academic growth of ALL  students of H.J. MacDonald.

TSA will meet on Thursday, January 10 in Room 708 from 3:45-4:15. Robots and Vex kits must be brought back by the meeting date. At the meeting members will discuss registering for the regional competition in February.

Progress reports will go home on Friday, January 11. Your child should have a progress report from all of their classroom teachers. If you have specific concerns regarding the academic progress of your child, please do not hesitate to schedule a conference with your child's teachers. We must all work together to move our students toward success.

Spring sports season is just around the corner. Girls Soccer tryouts will be held on Tuesday Feb. 5th and Softball tryouts will be held Monday Feb. 11th. Tryouts start right after school and will end at 5:00 pm. Students in all grade levels are eligible to tryout! All athletes need to have completed Physical and Concussion forms  before tryouts. Any questions see Mr. Al Lee or Ms. Kara Kinney

Looking ahead... the next PPTO meeting will be on Monday, January 14 at 5:30 in the HJM Cafeteria. Please plan to attend.

Also, to all 8th graders and parents, NBHS will hold their AVID recruitment night for incoming freshmen on January 15th at 5:30 in the media center at New Bern High School. Please consider attending to hear about the exciting opportunities and endless possibilities NBHS AVID offers for students who are driven to achieve their own personal best and secure a future of opportunity.
