West Craven High School Girls Indoor Volleyball Team Earns 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award and Honor Roll Distinction

Craven County Schools congratulates the West Craven High School Girls Indoor Volleyball Team on earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.

The team also received the prestigious AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll distinction, which recognizes programs whose grade-point averages rank among the top 20% nationally within their division.

The AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball programs that maintained a year-long team grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale—or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale—during the 2025–26 academic year.

West Craven High School has now earned this academic distinction five times since 2018, demonstrating the volleyball program’s continued commitment to excellence in the classroom as well as in athletic competition.

“It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season,” said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. “We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs.”

West Craven High School is one of 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball programs nationwide to receive the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award. Its additional placement on the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll highlights the exceptional academic performance of West Craven’s student-athletes.
