Senator Bob Brinson Visits Craven County Schools During "NC Invite Your Legislators to School Week
Craven County Schools proudly welcomed Senator Bob Brinson to JT Barber Elementary and New Bern High School as part of North Carolina’s Invite Your Legislators to School Week, an annual initiative designed to strengthen connections between state leaders and local school districts.
The visit provided Senator Brinson with a firsthand look at the dynamic learning environments, innovative programs, and dedicated staff that define Craven County Schools.
At JT Barber Elementary, Senator Brinson visited classrooms, where he observed engaging instruction and the infectious enthusiasm of young learners. A special highlight was the Purple Up Lunch, honoring the district’s military-connected students and their families. This thoughtful and colorful lunch reflected Craven’s commitment to inclusion and support for our military families.
At New Bern High School, Senator Brinson explored the Career and Technical Education (CTE) classrooms, where students showcased skills in areas such as technology, engineering, and trades. The tour highlighted how CTE programs are equipping students with real-world skills and preparing them for success beyond graduation.
“We’re thankful for Senator Brinson’s time, attention, and genuine interest in both the opportunities and challenges facing our schools,” said Michelle Lee, Acting Superintendent. “Visits like these are vital for building partnerships that shape the future of education in our community.”
