School Nutrition Team Celebrates the Start of a New School Year

Craven County Schools School Nutrition managers and staff came together on Friday, August 21st, for a special Back-to-School Celebration as they prepared to welcome students for the 2026–2027 school year.

The meeting provided an opportunity for School Nutrition employees from across the district to reconnect, review important updates, and prepare for another year of serving students. The team also recognized the School Nutrition Association’s 80th anniversary, celebrating decades of dedication to supporting students through school nutrition programs.

To commemorate the milestone, each staff member received a special T-shirt featuring the SNA anniversary celebration logo.

One of the most meaningful moments of the gathering came when several employees shared their personal “why”—the reasons they choose to serve and support students each day. Their heartfelt stories reflected the compassion, dedication, and student-centered spirit that School Nutrition employees bring to their work. The emotional reflections served as a powerful reminder that their impact extends far beyond the meals they prepare and serve.

Superintendent Dr. Cheeseman also joined the celebration to speak with the team and recognize the important work School Nutrition employees perform behind the scenes each day.

From preparing nutritious meals and maintaining welcoming cafeterias to greeting students with a smile, School Nutrition employees play an essential role in helping each school day run smoothly. Their work ensures students have the nourishment and support they need to focus on learning and make the most of their school day.

Craven County Schools is proud to recognize the dedicated professionals on our School Nutrition team.

To our School Nutrition employees: You are seen, valued, and appreciated. Thank you for all you do for our students and schools each day!
