Oaks Road Academy Hosts Inspiring Career Day for Pre-K–5 Students

Oaks Road Academy recently welcomed a wide range of community professionals for an engaging and educational Career Day experience for students in grades Pre-K through 5.

The Craven County Schools Department of Public Relations and Communications was honored to participate in the event, joining a strong lineup of community partners dedicated to sharing their career journeys and daily responsibilities. Students had the opportunity to learn directly from representatives of Craven County Government, including the Soil & Water Conservation District, Parks & Recreation, Environmental Health, and Animal Protective Services, as well as the New Bern Police Department, Tryon Palace, Craven Community College, the New Bern-Craven County Public Library, Sound Rivers, a Marine officer, Duke Energy, and a local attorney.

Throughout the day, students explored a variety of career pathways and gained valuable insight into the real-world roles that help support and strengthen the Craven County community. Presenters shared personal experiences, answered student questions, and helped connect classroom learning to future possibilities.

Career Day served as a meaningful and memorable opportunity for students to envision their futures while engaging with professionals committed to service, education, safety, and community development. The enthusiasm, expertise, and dedication of each participant helped make a lasting impression on students and staff alike.
