Proposed Closure of Craven Virtual Academy

The Craven County Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the proposed closure of Craven Virtual Academy in accordance with North Carolina General Statute §115C-72.

Date: June 11, 2026
Time: 6:00 p.m.

Location: Grover C. Fields Middle School PAC
    2000 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, New Bern, NC

 

 

The purpose of this public hearing is to provide an opportunity for members of the public to be heard regarding the potential closure of Craven Virtual Academy. The Board has not made a final decision and is seeking input from parents, staff, and community members before taking further action.

In compliance with N.C.G.S. §115C-72, the Board is considering this action due to factors that may include enrollment, financial considerations, and the efficient use of school facilities. All interested persons are invited to attend and share comments, concerns, and perspectives.

Individuals wishing to speak will be given an opportunity to do so during the hearing. Individuals can sign up to address the Board before the start of the June 11th Public Hearing, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Board values public input as an important part of the decision-making process and encourages community participation.
