Students from across Craven County Schools recently put their math skills to the test during the Middle School Math Challenge, a spirited academic competition designed to promote collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving among eighth-grade Math 1 students.

Hosted at Grover C. Fields Middle School and sponsored by the Craven County Schools Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program, the event brought together teams from all five district middle schools for a day filled with engaging competitions and challenging rounds.

Throughout the event, students worked together to solve a variety of mathematical problems while demonstrating teamwork, perseverance, and academic excellence. The competition provided students with the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and apply their learning in a fun and competitive environment.

At the conclusion of the challenge, Grover C. Fields Middle School earned first-place honors, taking home the championship title. Individual task winners were also recognized for their outstanding performance throughout the competition.

Craven County Schools extends its congratulations to all participating students for their hard work and dedication, and its appreciation to the educators, staff members, and organizers who helped make the event a success.

The Middle School Math Challenge continues to be a meaningful opportunity to encourage academic achievement while celebrating student success in mathematics across the district.
