Craven County Schools recently rolled out the red carpet to welcome 60 new educators during Beginning Teacher Orientation, held August 4–6.

The three-day orientation gave the district’s newest educators an opportunity to connect, learn, and prepare for a successful start to the school year. Participants were introduced to valuable district resources, programs, and support services while discovering what makes Craven County Schools a great place to teach, grow, and serve students.

Throughout the orientation, beginning teachers heard from Superintendent Dr. Cheeseman, Craven County Schools Principal of the Year Dr. Artis, and other district leaders who shared encouragement, guidance, and valuable information to help them feel confident and prepared as they entered their classrooms.

Beyond learning about district procedures and resources, the orientation provided an important opportunity for new educators to begin building relationships with colleagues and creating a network of support for the year ahead.

Beginning a career in education is an exciting journey, and Craven County Schools is committed to ensuring our newest teachers know they are not taking that journey alone. From district leaders and school administrators to mentors and fellow educators, a strong network is in place to support their professional growth and success.

As these 60 educators settle into their schools and classrooms, we encourage our entire Craven County Schools family to continue rolling out the red carpet—offering encouragement, answering questions, and helping our newest team members feel at home.

Welcome to the Craven County Schools family! We are excited to have you on our team and look forward to an outstanding year of learning, collaboration, and success together.
