Craven County Schools to Host Kindergarten Registration Event on April 9th

It’s time for the next generation of learners to take their first step into education! Craven County Schools is inviting families of rising kindergarteners to attend its Kindergarten Registration Event on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at all elementary schools across the district.

This event is designed to help families with the registration process, provide valuable information about kindergarten readiness, and allow parents and children to meet school staff before the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

Who Should Attend?

Families with children who will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2025, are encouraged to participate in this registration opportunity. Parents and guardians will have the chance to tour their child’s future school, meet kindergarten teachers, and receive resources to support their child’s transition into elementary school.

What to Expect at Kindergarten Registration

During the event, parents will:
 Complete the necessary registration paperwork
 Meet school administrators, kindergarten teachers, and school staff
 Tour the school and learn about the kindergarten experience
 Receive tips on preparing their child for school success

To ensure a smooth registration process, parents should bring the following documents:
 Certified birth certificate
 Proof of current residential address (e.g., electric bill)
 Parent/guardian photo ID
 Child’s immunization records
 Current health assessment form

School leaders encourage parents to begin preparing their children for school by reading together, practicing writing their name, engaging in social interactions, and establishing routines that promote independence.
