Craven County Schools is proud to celebrate eight outstanding students who have been selected to participate in the North Carolina Governor’s School, the oldest statewide summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students in the nation.

The North Carolina Governor’s School is a four-week program designed for some of the state’s most gifted and talented rising high school students. The program integrates academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses across two campuses, giving students the opportunity to explore cutting-edge ideas and concepts in academics and the arts.

Governor’s School emphasizes collaboration across disciplines and encourages students to engage deeply with the latest ideas in their selected area of study. Students are chosen through a competitive selection process after being nominated by their public school unit or non-public school. The program is administered by the State Board of Education and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction through the Office of Advanced Learning and Gifted Education.

Selection for Governor’s School is a prestigious honor, and Craven County Schools congratulates these students on this outstanding achievement. Their selection reflects their talent, dedication, curiosity, and commitment to learning at the highest levels.
