Craven County Schools proudly hosted the Special Olympics Spring Games at Havelock High School on April 16, 2026, bringing together student-athletes from across the district for a memorable day filled with competition, celebration, and community spirit.

The event began with a spirited Parade of Athletes, setting the tone for a morning focused on inclusion, encouragement, and achievement. Students participated in a variety of track-and-field events, demonstrating determination, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout the day.

The Special Olympics Spring Games provide meaningful opportunities for students with special needs to compete, build confidence, connect with peers, and celebrate their accomplishments in a supportive and uplifting environment. The event also serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusion and the positive impact athletics can have on students both inside and outside the classroom.

Craven County Schools extends a heartfelt thank-you to Craven County Parks and Recreation and the many dedicated volunteers who helped make the event a success. Their time, support, and commitment helped create lasting memories and meaningful experiences for all participants.

The district is incredibly proud of each student-athlete who participated in this year’s games and celebrates the joy, determination, and school spirit they brought to the event.
