tudents from across Craven County Schools showcased their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills during the district’s annual LEGO and Robotics Competition held on Thursday, April 23, at Tucker Creek Middle School.

Teams representing all five district middle schools gathered in the school gymnasium to compete in a series of exciting hands-on STEM challenges designed to test engineering, coding, and robotics skills. Events included the Launcher Challenge, Sphero Bolt Construction Challenge, Sphero Bolt Coding Challenge, and the RVR Challenge.

Throughout the competition, students demonstrated collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking while applying real-world science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts in a competitive and engaging environment.

The district extends its appreciation to the many volunteers, judges, and staff members who helped make the event a success, including community partners and representatives from Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) programs.

A special thank you goes to April Mesa, CTE teacher at Tucker Creek Middle School, for organizing and leading the event. The competition was proudly supported and sponsored by the district’s Digital and Blended Learning Department, CTE, and AIG programs.

Congratulations to this year’s competition winners:

  • First Place: West Craven Middle School
  • Second Place: Havelock Middle School
  • Third Place: Tucker Creek Middle School

The district also recognizes the dedication of the coaches from each middle school who worked closely with students to prepare for the competition, as well as the parents and families who supported students throughout the event.

Events like the LEGO and Robotics Competition continue to provide students with valuable opportunities to develop STEM skills, build confidence, and explore future career pathways in technology and engineering.
