Craven County Schools Earns Statewide Recognition with Five Blue Ribbon Awards for Excellence in School Communication
New Bern, NC -Craven County Schools has been honored with five Blue Ribbon Awards from the North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA), recognizing the district’s exceptional commitment to excellence in school communications during the 2024 calendar year.
The awards were presented at NCSPRA’s annual Blue Ribbon Awards ceremony on April 11, 2025, held at the Blue Heron Event Venue in High Point. Craven County Schools was recognized in the following categories:

Gold Award for Image/Graphic Design

Silver Award for Special Events & Programs

Silver Award for Digital Media Engagement

Silver Award for Electronic Media

Bronze Award for Publications
“These honors reflect the creativity, collaboration, and strategic vision behind our district’s communication efforts,” said Acting Superintendent Mrs. Michelle Lee. “We’re proud of our Public Relations team and their work in keeping families informed, celebrating our students and staff, and promoting the incredible learning happening every day across our schools.”
The NCSPRA Blue Ribbon Awards are the highest statewide honors given for school communication. This year, 334 awards were presented to 35 school districts across North Carolina. Entries were judged by the Georgia School Public Relations Association, which commended the winning work as “a model of excellent communication” and “an exceptional showcase of the incredible work that students and districts are doing.”
Valerie Newton, NCSPRA President and Director of Communication and Family Engagement for Sampson County Schools, shared, “The Blue Ribbon Award winners have demonstrated excellence in all facets of communication. Their expertise and professionalism highlight the superior work being done by North Carolina public schools.”
