Craven County Schools Celebrates School Nutrition Heroes

On Wednesday, May 27, Craven County Schools celebrated the dedication and service of its School Nutrition team during the Annual School Nutrition Awards Ceremony held at Amelia Grove.

The special evening brought together school administrators, district staff, and the Board of Education to recognize the incredible School Nutrition employees who serve students and schools across the district each day.

School Nutrition staff members are often the unsung heroes and heartbeat of our schools. From early mornings to busy lunch periods, they prepare and serve meals with love, care, and dedication, helping ensure students are nourished, supported, and ready to learn. Their work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students, families, and school communities throughout Craven County Schools.

During the ceremony, several individuals and teams were recognized for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments.

Most Meals Served During Farm to School Week — Ben D. Quinn Elementary

Farm to School Week Recipe Developers — Samantha Wilson and Donna Hohlfelder

Overall Highest Breakfast Increase for the Year — Creekside Elementary

Overall Highest Lunch Increase for the Year — Ben D. Quinn Elementary

Manager of the Year — Amber Lewis

Employee of the Year — Kristen Durbin

Friend LEE Award — Greenbrier Community
