Craven County Schools Celebrates Military-Connected Students with Purple Up Day

Craven County Schools proudly celebrated Purple Up Day across the district on April 19th, 2026, in recognition of the Month of the Military Child, honoring the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of military-connected students and families.

Students, staff, and school communities throughout the district wore purple in support of military children and to recognize the important role they play in our schools and community. The color purple symbolizes all branches of the military coming together, combining the colors of each service branch into one unified show of support.

Throughout the day, schools participated in activities and celebrations designed to recognize and uplift military-connected students, many of whom face unique challenges such as frequent moves, deployments, and time away from loved ones serving in the armed forces.

Craven County Schools extends heartfelt appreciation to all military children for their courage, adaptability, and strength. While service members dedicate themselves to protecting our nation, military-connected students also make sacrifices and demonstrate resilience that deserves recognition and celebration.

As a proud military-friendly district, Craven County Schools remains committed to supporting military families and ensuring every student feels connected, valued, and supported both academically and emotionally.

To all of our military-connected students: thank you for the strength and positivity you bring to our schools each day. You are true champions, and we are proud to celebrate you not only on Purple Up Day but throughout the entire year.
