On May 26, Craven County Schools proudly celebrated 63 Beginning Teacher 3 educators at Grover C. Fields Middle School as they completed their Beginning Teacher journey and transitioned into full teacher status after three successful years of growth, leadership, and learning.

The celebration marked an important milestone for these educators, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and continued commitment to students across the district. Over the past three years, the BT3 teachers have grown in their profession, strengthened their instructional practices, and made a meaningful impact in their classrooms and school communities.

Dr. Cheeseman, Superintendent of Craven County Schools, opened the celebration with words of wisdom, sharing how his own educational career has evolved through the impact of students, colleagues, and fellow staff members. His message served as a reminder of the lasting influence educators have on one another and on the students they serve.

Mr. Christian Martin, 2024-2025 Beginning Teacher of the Year, also shared celebratory remarks, honoring the hard work, dedication, and resilience of this outstanding group of educators.

Each BT3 teacher received a certificate in recognition of completing the Beginning Teacher Program, as well as a chair, a special gift encouraging them to relax, reflect, and recharge this summer before the next adventure begins when school starts back in August.

Craven County Schools congratulates all 63 BT3 teachers on this exciting milestone. We are proud of your commitment to students and grateful for the difference you make each day in our schools.

A special thank you is extended to Lakecia Brown and Necia Swain, Beginning Teacher Coordinators, and Dr. Neshawn Dawson, Director of Human Resources, for their leadership, support, and dedication to beginning teachers. Craven County Schools also appreciates the school-based mentors who offered their time, guidance, care, and encouragement throughout the Beginning Teacher journey.
