Craven County Schools Announces Assistant Principal of the Year (2025-2026)
It is truly an honor as we celebrate an incredible initiative that highlights the dedication, passion, and impact of
our educational leaders, the Assistant Principal of the Year program. Craven County Schools has participated in
the Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year Program for many years and is proud to implement a local
Assistant Principal of the year program that not only recognizes the hard work and commitment of assistant
principals across our schools but also emphasizes the crucial role they play in shaping the educational experiences
of our students.

finalists are:
Lea Davis, Havelock High School
Kimberly Scott, JT Barber Elementary School
Nannette Walston-Moore, West Craven High School
Congratulations to Nannette Walston-Moore for being selected as the 2025-2026 Craven County Schools
Assistant Principal of the Year. Dr. Walston-Moore is a dedicated educational leader with over four years of
administrative experience, currently serving as Assistant Principal at West Craven High School. An innovative
strategist and passionate advocate for student and staff success, Ms. Walston-Moore brings a growth-oriented
approach to leadership, championing a school culture rooted in excellence, inclusivity, and continuous
improvement.
Dr. Walston-Moore holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Saint Augustine’s University
and a Certificate in Business Education from East Carolina University. She completed her Master’s in Executive
Leadership from Gardner-Webb University and just recently earned her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at
the same institution. Her academic journey has equipped her with expertise in strategic planning, curriculum
design, conflict resolution, and safety planning.
Throughout her career, Dr. Walston-Moore has facilitated professional development, coached teachers in effective
instructional practices, coordinated student testing programs, and led community engagement initiatives such as
Eagle Fest and Meet Your Eagles. Her leadership of the Alternative Learning Placement (ALP) program
highlights her commitment to individualized student support.
As an ambassador for Craven County Schools, Dr. Walston-Moore is committed to advocating for the
transformative power of education, fostering equitable opportunities, and preparing students and staff to become
the leaders of tomorrow.
