Craven County School District Launches New Strategic Plan
New Bern, NC- Craven County Schools unveiled a new strategic plan yesterday, during the Board of Education Work Session, that will provide the foundation for the district’s efforts for the next five years as it seeks to fulfill its new vision, mission, core values, and beliefs.
“The Craven Commitment-Guiding the Journey to Future Success” is the result of over 8 months of planning and gathering input from over 185 staff, students, families, and community members representing stakeholders from all of Craven County.
“I am pleased to present the new strategic plan for Craven County Schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Wendy Miller. “The plan is the result of many comprehensive listening and collaborative working sessions with our valued stakeholders who are dedicated to building a framework that will guide our shared hopes, dreams, and vision for each and every one of our students.”
“I consider our strategic plan to be very similar to a compass providing our district with the direction to reach our final destination. Throughout the plan, you will see several key focus areas that will guide us during our journey. Each focus area has specific goals and strategies directing our actions and decision-making processes. You will also see the district’s core values woven throughout the plan as a constant reminder of what the school system believes is a solid foundation for our work.”
The new strategic plan includes a new vision, mission, core values, and beliefs that reflect the district’s commitment to excellence for ALL including staff, families, and our community. Like a compass, the strategic plan will provide organizational direction and will help guide the school system as it embarks on the journey to prepare each and every student for success. The four goals established provide direction in which the district will move as educational excellence is achieved. These goals will focus on Successful Students, Premier Professionals, Superior Systems, and Committed Community.
The Craven County Board of Education formally approved the plan on June 18, 2024. This adoption represents a collaborative partnership aligning our efforts towards a shared vision of educational excellence and community engagement.
