Craven County Board Member Honored with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine for 32 Years of Service

New Bern, NC – December 2, 2024 – In a surprise presentation on Monday, December 2nd, Mr. Carr Ipock, a long-standing and highly respected member of the Craven County Schools Board of Education, was honored with North Carolina's prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine for his remarkable service to public education. After serving the district for over 32 years, Mr. Ipock’s dedication and leadership have left an incredible mark on the school system, and the Board of Education, along with the entire Craven County Schools community, will greatly miss his expertise, wisdom, and collaborative spirit.

The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the state's highest civilian honors, is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities and professions. Mr. Ipock’s extensive service to public education, both locally and statewide, made him an ideal candidate for this recognition.

A Legacy of Leadership
Mr. Ipock’s term with Craven County Schools Board of Education is a testament to his commitment to public education. Over the years, he has held various leadership roles, including serving as the Board Chairman. In addition, Mr. Ipock was an active representative on the Board of the North Carolina School Boards Association, where he contributed to shaping education policy on a statewide level. His pioneering efforts in the creation of Leadership North Carolina further exemplified his vision for fostering leadership development in the state.

Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Ipock was also honored with the prestigious Raleigh Dingman Award, which qualified him to serve on the State Board of Education. Through these roles, he not only advocated for students and staff in Craven County but also worked tirelessly to improve educational opportunities across North Carolina.

A Gratitude-Filled Farewell
During the surprise ceremony, colleagues and community members shared heartfelt words of appreciation for Mr. Ipock’s unwavering dedication and support for Craven County Schools. The Board of Education expressed deep gratitude for his invaluable contributions, acknowledging that his leadership has played a key role in shaping the district into what it is today.

"His wisdom, knowledge, and collaborative spirit have guided our district through numerous challenges and triumphs. We are profoundly grateful for his service and his lasting impact on our community."

Although Mr. Ipock has departed from the Board of Education, the district is committed to continuing his legacy of advocacy, leadership, and excellence in education. His contributions will not be forgotten, and his influence will be felt for years to come.
