AH Bangert Elementary School hosted its annual Grandparents Day on October 8th at Garber Methodist Church, and the event was a resounding success, bringing joy to students, grandparents, staff, and volunteers alike.

The event has become a beloved tradition, allowing students of all grades to share their passion for reading with their visiting grandparents. This year, the atmosphere was filled with love, laughter, and the vibrant energy of young readers showcasing their favorite books. Dedicated volunteers stepped in as special guests for students whose grandparents could not attend, ensuring that no child missed out on the experience.

Principal Catherine Alligood expressed her delight, stating, “Grandparents Day is a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with their loved ones and share the joy of reading. It truly highlights the importance of family and community in our children’s education.”

Dr. Wendy Miller, Superintendent, who also participated as a grandparent this year, added, “Witnessing the bond between the students and their grandparents is heartwarming. It emphasizes how crucial reading is in building those connections and fostering a love for learning.”

The event not only celebrated the special relationships between students and their grandparents but also highlighted the vital role that literacy plays in bridging generations. As the event concluded, the room echoed with the shared stories and laughter that only such cherished moments can create, leaving everyone looking forward to next year’s celebration.
