It's hard to believe I'm entering my 16th year in education. I launched my career right here at home as an elementary teacher at Oaks Road and Ben D. Quinn Elementary Schools, and as the coach of the New Bern High School Drill Team. I went on to teach at Seawell Elementary in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District for five years before returning to Craven County to work as an Instructional Coach at Brinson and Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary Schools.

The past three years I've had the pleasure and privilege of serving as the assistant principal at Brinson Elementary School; the very elementary school I attended as a child. Now, I get the opportunity to serve in that same capacity, at the very middle school I attended as a student. It is such a blessing to be able to work and learn in places you are truly vested!

When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, learning new things, working out, reading, and painting. I love the beach and the mountains, and my favorite place to visit is my Mom and Dad's house, followed closely in second by Disney World and the Grove Park Inn Spa.

While it will be difficult to leave my Brinson family, I know I couldn't be joining a stronger SQUAD than that of HJM. I am excited to build new relationships and to continue supporting the students, teachers, and families of our great county, so that we can provide the very best educational experiences possible.

Being an educator is a responsibility that I take very seriously. With two children of my own, it is of the utmost importance for me to make EVERY day count for EVERY student of Craven County Schools. It is my goal to provide the type of education for ALL students that I want for my own children.

Hello Warcub Nation. I am excited to be joining the administrative team at HJM this year. I have taught in Craven County Schools for 18 years, the last 15 at West Craven High School. I am a graduate of New Bern High, Craven Community College, East Carolina University, and Gardner-Webb. My wife, Necia, is also a Craven County School employee and we have three wonderful kids. Besides being an educator, I am also Pastor of Vanceboro Christian Church and enjoy spending time with my church family. In my spare time I enjoy sports, fishing, working in the yard, and visiting historical sites. My family also loves visiting the Outer Banks and the North Carolina Mountains. I believe that all young people can learn if given the opportunity and I am looking forward to a wonderful year at HJM.
