LtCol Jason Gibbs
LtCol Jason Gibbs is a native of North Carolina from Elizabeth City. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2021 after 23 years of service. His last active duty assignment was Future Operations Officer, U.S. Marine Forces Southern Command where he was responsible for the integration of Marine Corps forces and capabilities into Security Cooperation and Humanitarian / Disaster Relief Operations throughout Latin America. Other roles that LtCol Gibbs has executed have included: Artillery Forward Observer, Artillery Fire Direction Officer, Provisional Rifle Platoon Commander, Artillery Battery Commander, and Director of Joint Fire Support. He has held instructor positions as a Fire Support and Target Intelligence Instructor, and has conducted several operational deployments while assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, and Special Operations Command.
LtCol Gibbs attended East Carolina University, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, and was a member of ECU's Cross Country and Track and Field teams. His military awards include: The Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, The Combat Action Ribbon, two Afghanistan Campaign Medals, two Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medals, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
This is LtCol Gibbs' first year at HHS. He is married to Cynthia, a local artist. They have two children and two grandchildren.
