BA in Secondary Education English from Clemson University MAT in Middle Grades ELA from Clemson University
Hello! I am Tolly Garrison, and I am the new AIG teacher here at Bangert this year. I feel very privileged to teach at such an amazing school. Prior to coming to Bangert, I taught middle school and high school English in South Carolina. I spent four years teaching ninth grade English at Easley High School in Easley, South Carolina, and three years teaching middle school ELA at Langston Charter Middle School in Greenville, South Carolina. Langston Middle School is a charter school for gender separated classes, so I had the unique experience of working with each geneder seperately. The past two years, I have been at home with my girls, but I am very excited to be back in the classroom again. I received both my undergradaute degree in Secondary Education: English and my master's degree in Middle Grades: ELA from Clemson University. Go Tigers!
I moved to New Bern with my family from Greenville, South Carolina two years ago, and we love it here! I have two daughters, Eliza and Toccoa. Eliza is in the first grade here at Bangert and Toccoa is two years old and goes to Garber Preschool. My husband, Ryan, is an engineer at Hatteras. We love being on the water, Clemson Tiger football, and being outside.
I love to read and write, and I want to help my students develop as readers, writers, thinkers, and problem solvers this year. I expect hard work and respect from my students, and I know they expect the same from me! I am excited to spend the year with you! Please feel free to contact me any time you have any questions or concerns. My hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30-11:30.
