Ms. Roxana McElearney

My name is Ms. Roxana McElearney.  I was born in Lima-Peru and my first language is Spanish.  I moved to the United States when I was 21 years old.  Shortly after, I joined the U.S. Navy and met my husband, Paul, a U.S. Marine.

In 2013, we moved to North Carolina.  I have 3 children: Dinita (16), Paul (14), and Luis (12), all of which I taught to speak Spanish as well.  At home, I have 4 dogs, a bearded dragon, and a bunny as pets.  Besides teaching Spanish, I volunteer as an advisor for the Enlisted Spouses Club at Cherry Point, as the Public Relations Chair for the Neuse Basin District of The Boy Scouts of America, and as the Vice President of the PTSO for Early College EAST, Havelock.

I attended Azusa Pacific University, Azusa, California where I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Human Development with an emphasis in elementary teaching.  I started teaching Spanish in 1999.  I LOVE TO TEACH THE SPANISH LANGUAGE!  We will begin our journey by learning the A, B, C's, greetings, numbers, colors, dates and months of the year.  I will use IPADs, workbook, printed worksheets, slides, and games.  Before you know it, we will be speaking Spanish together.
