BS in Middle Grades Education

Miss Genovese

I was born and raised right here in our growing town of New Bern, NC. I attended St. Paul Catholic School from preschool until eighth grade. I then attended New Bern High School where I was active in Navy JROTC, Science Olympiad, Junior Civitan, and National Honors Society. From NBHS, I went to Elon University for my first year of college and then transferred to North Carolina Wesleyan College. There I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in ELA and Social Studies.

At NC Wesleyan, I was a student ambassador, member of SNCAE, Vice President of Recruitment and then President of the Gamma Pi chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. At the end of my junior year, I was selected by the NC Wesleyan College Education Program to attend a week-long STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) seminar at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. My biggest accomplishments at Wesleyan are being president of my sorority and graduating Magna Cum Laude.

As a product of Craven County Schools, I was delighted to return to New Bern to teach in a public school. As a first year teacher, I am excited to educate the youth here at HJ MacDonald, learn from my colleagues, grow as an educator, and make fantastic memories here.

Outside of school, I enjoy exercising at the Twin Rivers YMCA and spending time with my family, friends, and my two beautiful cats. If I'm not at HJ MacDonald or the TRYMCA, you can most definitely catch me at either Chick-fil-A, Target, or Hobby Lobby!
