Mrs. Catherine Alligood

I am excited to begin my third year as principal of Bangert Elementary. My family and I have lived in Trent Woods for almost 23 years, and we have loved it here.  My husband, Dwayne, and I have two daughters, both of whom are products of Craven County Schools.  Before becoming an administrator, I was a science teacher.  I have taught at Pamlico County High School, Carroll Middle School in Wake County, and at Trent Park Elementary here in Craven County.  I served as a STEM Project Manager for Craven County Schools, and prior to coming to Bangert I was the Assistant Principal at Ben D. Quinn Elementary.

Bangert is a wonderful neighborhood school, and this year we will continue the many fabulous traditions that make Bangert a top school.  At Bangert we value our partnership with the Trent Woods community, and we know that our many partnerships makes us stronger.  Our goal is to give every student a complete education. At Bangert we take very seriously our vision, “Experiencing Success…  Everyone, Every Day!”  We see success all around us, and we take joy in celebrating it.  Come join us!

Please contact me if you have questions or concerns.  I will be very happy to talk with you.

Mr. Ben Barnes

I am happy to be at Bangert Elementary starting my first full year as the Assistant Principal. My name is Benjamin Barnes and I am starting my 16th year as an educator. I am excited to be in Craven County! I started teaching at West Cary Middle School in Wake County as a Social Studies Teacher, an Instructional Resource Teacher, and have had the opportunity to be a School Improvement Chair. I was a High School History teacher in Rocky Mount before I started off as an administrator at Rocky Mount Prep in 2014.

I enjoy fishing and spending time by the water.  I also enjoy curling up with a good book and hanging out with my family.  I do not mind cold weather and enjoy time in the mountains when possible.  I am happy that I have the opportunity to come to Bangert Elementary.  The school community is inviting, and I appreciate getting to know and work with each of you.

Please do not hesitate to stop by and say hello! I am extremely excited to be here and look forward to getting to know the school community.
