Bachelor's in Music Education from East Carolina University
Preston Ridgell has received his bachelors degree in music education from East Carolina University, and has studied trombone under Nicki McCaslin, and Terry Mizesko. He has performed in ECU’s top music ensembles such as the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, as well as freelance gigs around the region. Preston has attend West Johnston High School, and Ronald W. Reagan High School, which both have BOA (Bands of America) competing bands.
He has marched with various indoor percussion ensembles including West Johnston Indoor, Wake Forest Independent, and Forza East Independent and is a 4 time WGI (Winter Guard International) finalist. Preston also taught indoor percussion by becoming the visual caption head with Alchemy Independent (2017) based out of Carolina Gold. He decided to give outdoor performing ensembles a chance and marched with Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle corps in 2015 on baritone. Preston has also taught the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps (2016), as well as the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps (2017).
Preston student taught at New Bern High School under Chris Elbing, and Grover C. Fields Middle School under Jodi Campbell Elbing, and has helped bring back four superior ratings for all four ensembles at MPA in 2017. Preston has taught various high school marching programs such as D.H. Conley High School (2014), North Pitt High School (2015) and West Carteret High School (also BOA band) (2015-2016).
