Degrees and Certifications:
I am honored to have the privilege of teaching your child. It is a charge I take seriously, and honor respectfully. As we begin this academic year I would like to introduce myself, as well as share some thoughts and information.
My name is Ms. Forbis and I will be your child’s teacher this year for the adapted curriculum program at West Craven Middle School. I am excited to have this opportunity.
I’d like to take this time to share something about myself. I studied at Mount Olive College and Capella University. Over the years I have different teaching opportunities. Each experience has helped me grow as a teacher and understand the importance of quality education in the early years of a child.
I believe you are the expert when it comes to your child. You have already spent many years as the most important teacher in his/her life. The more we communicate, the better chance we’ll have of maximizing your child’s potential.
The relationship I have with you and your child is important to me. Feel free to use the contact information below if you have questions, concerns and/or ideas.
Threat and stress are not a part of our classroom culture. Our classroom is set up to be a positive place to learn. My teaching will recognize your child’s many strengths and build upon those. When it comes to classroom management and disciple, I follow the guidelines of an approach entitles “Love and Logic”.
Take Home Folder
Each student will have a take home folder that they will bring home every night. The left side of the folder will be labeled “Leave at Home”, these items may stay at home. The right side of the folder will be labeled “Return to school”, on this side students will put things that need to be filled out and sent back to school. If you need to send in any notes or information, please place this on the right side of the take home folder.
