My name is Kaylee Kramer and this is my first year teaching second grade at Brinson Memorial Elementary School! Previously I taught at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School in the adaptive curriculum setting. This is my 4th year teaching and I'm so excited and honored that I get to work with such a great group of kids! Originally from Rochester, NY, I moved to New Bern in 2013 with my family. I have my bachelor's degree in Communication/Journalism from St. John Fisher College (GO CARDS!) but realized when I moved to NC that I wanted to switch career paths. I returned to school and obtained my master's degree from Western Carolina University in Special Education in December of 2016. I have an additional teaching license in Elementary Education K-5 Gen Ed.
In my classroom, my students are what drive my lessons. Based on their interests, abilities, and growth, we learn through multi-faceted lessons so the students can learn and grow the best way for each of them. Working closely with my second grade team, my goal is to get the students in my classroom best prepared for the next step in their schooling careers.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, crafting, baking, and going to the beach! I have three fur babies at home - Maxwell, Patches, and Chloe. I love to sing and dance and often break out in song in and out of the classroom - much to some of my students' dismay! I dote on my neice and nephew that live in NY (pictured with me) and love traveling around NC and making it my home!
