Mrs. Miah Vereen

I grew up in a small and beautiful town Robbinsville, North Carolina which is located in the Smoky Mountains.  I also lived in Chapel Hill, NC for 5 years, where I met my husband Truman, and in Greenville, NC for 2 years.  Truman and I then moved to Craven County because he became the Administrator at Grantsbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after receiving his Masters in Public Health from Eastern Carolina University.  I was lucky to be offered my dream job and I couldn't be more thrilled to live and work in a beautiful county.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Social Studies and Mathematics Education, I received my AIG (gifted and talented) teaching license from Western Carolina University, I received my 9-12 Mathematics teaching license and am a North Carolina Teaching Fellow.  I have loved teaching ever since I began tutoring others in high school and volunteered in my Aunt and Grandmother's classrooms.  I have fully enjoyed meeting new students and gaining new experiences through my journey of teaching.  I taught 7th grade Social Studies at EB Aycock Middle School in Greenville, North Carolina for two years,  I taught AIG at Tucker Creek Middle School and Havelock Middle School, and now am in my second year teaching at Havelock High.

In my free time, I enjoy attending sporting events at UNC-Chapel Hill and ECU.  I also enjoy traveling, dancing, singing, playing sports, going to the gym, coaching, listening to music, writing lyrics, eating ice cream, playing with my animals and spending time with my husband, friends, and family.
