Mr. Mark S. Smith, MEd.

About Mr. Smith

I was born a long time ago, in a land far away. When dinosaurs roamed the earth and the sun rose in the West and set in the East...

Just kidding, I grew up in a low-income Italian neigborhood in Providence, RI. I was one of six children raised by a single mother in the 1970's. In 1975 I left RI to join the Navy and see the world. I have been in the South ever since. I currently live in New Bern, NC with my wife, two sons, and numerous pets. I taught in various schools, in Virginia, for several years before relocating to Craven County. I love it here and I love Havelock High! Go Rams! Havelock High is by far the best place I have ever had the pleasure to work! Our school has wonderful students, great teachers, excellent academics, and fantastic  sports and after school programs. I really enjoy what I do and helping students to learn new skills and concepts.

I have many different interests. I am a engineering/science/physics type of person, a technology polymath and a "maker. I also enjoy philosophy, theology, reading, music, camping, sailing, fishing, woodwork, and family activities. Here are my credentials.
