Ms. Tompkins

Welcome to my webpage! I am happy to be entering my 36th year of teaching, 26 of which have been here in Craven County Schools. I have taught Kindergarten through 6th grade as a regular education teacher and served as a gifted specialist at the elementary and middle school levels. I currently work with gifted and potentially gifted students at Havelock Elementary and Roger Bell Academy in addition to my duties as the Academically/Intellectually Gifted Lead Teacher for Craven County Schools.

I grew up in Louisiana and received my BA from Northwestern State University, the location where "Steel Magnolias" was filmed. In 2012, I completed my MSA from ECU. As a Louisiana girl, I love to cook, especially all the wonderful Cajun food from home! I also enjoy crafting, repurposing furniture, and shopping. My family includes two adult sons, a grandson Beaux, his brother Davis (due to arrive mid-October), and fur babies Dixie and Piper. My dog Piper desperately wants me to be a stay at home dog mom, but she's going to have to wait a few more years. I enjoy challenging our gifted learners too much to retire now!

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about gifted programming and services.
