Professional Learning

Prior approval is required for all professional learning that is occurring within Craven County Schools. This may be initiated by the professional learning division or school based professional learning coordinators. In order to do this, a District Activities Request form must be completed and participants registered within Frontline Professional Growth. Upon completion of the activity, the school professional growth administrator or PD Facilitator must confirm attendance of course PD.  Once completed, request is routed to District Professional Growth Administrator for final approval and CEU's will be processed for the PD.  School Professional Growth Administrators or PD Facilitators must contact District Professional Growth Administrator to inform them that the PD is ready for processing.  Once credits are submitted, staff may check the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) CEU area for credits applied.  

Professional learning that occurs outside of our district require prior approval for CEU credit. This may be initiated by the professional learning division or school based professional learning coordinators. To request prior-approval, School Professional Growth Administrators in each building/department will need to complete an Out-of-District Proposal via Frontline. Ideally, requests are should be made three (3) weeks prior to the start date of activity. Failure to do so may prevent participants from receiving credit. Requests submitted after the event risk not being approved.

Prior approval is also required for any online modules, college courses, independent trainings, out of county conferences, and/or independent studies that an employee wishes to count towards their license. In order to do this, employees will need to complete the Course Proposal Request.  Failure to do so may prevent participants from receiving credit. Requests submitted after the event risk not being approved. Depending on the context, the Professional Learning Coordinator may require additional information (e.g., course syllabus).  

Upon successful completion of an activity, the employee will submit proof of credit (e.g., certificate, agenda, etc...) with the Frontline proposal to Ann Varano. Credit (CEUs) will not be posted until the appropriate documentation is submitted.
