Out of County Discretionary Admission

Families that Reside outside of Craven County 

Families residing outside of Craven County that wish to attend a Craven County School should:

  1. Complete and submit the Craven County Schools Discretionary Admission Application to the Director of Student Services.
  2. Complete and submit the Discretionary Admissions Discipline Attestation form along with the Discretionary Admission application to the Director of Student Services (see CCS Policy 4115).
  3. Obtain a release from the district/county in which the custodial parent(s) reside or is domiciled, and submit it along with items 1 and 2 to the Director of Student Services. 
    • An incomplete application will not be processed or considered for Discretionary Admission, i.e., items 1, 2, or 3 is missing or has not been submitted.
  4. Pay an out of county tuition fee, per CCS Policy 4135, once notification of approval has been received. 
    • The fee for the 2025-2026 school year is $2,619.13 the fee for 2026-27 (TBD).
      • The tuition must be paid prior to the first day of school for that student. 
      • The tuition fee will be prorated it admitted after the first day of school.
    • The out of county tuition is waived for full-time, permanent employees of Craven County Schools contingent upon their continued employment with CCS.
    • A tuition waiver may be granted for others by submitting a written request to the CCS Director of Student Services that states the economic hardship or other exceptions outlined in CCS Policy 4135-R, Tuition for Discretionary Admissions.
