Restart School Reform Model

alt-text

Restart is one of four Reform models available to LEAs to support designated Recurring Low Performing schools.  It allows district public schools to act with charter-like flexibilities in how they may plan for employment, budget, curriculum, calendar, or other uses of their allotted funding.  A Restart school remains under the control of the local board of education and has a goal of reforming the school including by meeting or exceeding the growth measure by subgroup.

24-25 Restart Schools:

Cohort 2: (in continued authorization year) Oaks Road Academy, Roger Bell New Tech Academy

Cohort 8: (in initial implementation year) JT Barber Elementary, West Craven Middle School

State Board of Education Policy: Please refer to Policy DSTR-040 for specific information guiding the program based on the policy for North Carolina Reform for Recurring Low-Performing Schools.
