School Performance Results
Craven County Schools Celebrate Gains in School Performance Results for 2024-2025.
New Bern, NC - The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released the 2024-2025 school performance results on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, to the State Board of Education for all Public School Units (PSU) in the state. These results are used to calculate the school performance letter grades, with 80% percent of the calculation based on proficiency results on the state’s standardized tests and 20% percent based on students' academic growth.
Academic growth indicates the progress that students in the school made over the previous year. The standard is roughly equivalent to a year’s worth of growth for a year of instruction. Growth is reported for each school as 1) Exceeded Growth Expectations, 2) Met Growth Expectations, or 3) Did Not Meet Growth Expectations as measured by EVAAS, a statistical tool North Carolina uses to measure student growth when common assessments are administered.
