Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Mary Beth Swingle
Hi. I am Ms. Swingle. This will be the start of my fourth year at Havelock High School. My Bachelor's Degree is in Psychology with an emphsis on Child Development. Unfortunately, I spent the next few years working at three corporations trying to earn money. Well, that didn't make me happy. When a contract ended, I started to help in my son's kindergarten class and learned how much I enjoyed school life. I have worked with Exceptional Children since 2009. First, I started as a substitute K-8 then moved on as a classroom assistant until I became a lead teacher in elementary and high school.
Outside of school, I spend time with my husband of almost 20 years and our teenage son. I have lived in New York, New Jersey, and California. (No. We were not a military family, but some extended family members have been in the military.) My family moved to New Bern four years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area by choice. We like to hike, explore new areas and cities. I like history, good food, a variety of music and visiting the theater. I am looking forward to a great year.
