Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Mary Beth Swingle

Hi.  I am Ms. Swingle.  This will be my fifith year at Havelock High School. It is great to be a Ram.  My Bachelor's Degree is in Psychology with an emphsis on Child Development.  After college, I worked at three national corporations.  It was not as rewarding as it may sound.  While one contract was ending, I started to help in my son's kindergarten class and learned how much I enjoyed working with students. I have worked with Exceptional Children since 2009.  I started as a substitute for K-8.  Then I moved on as a classroom assistant until I became a lead teacher in elementary and high school.

Outside of school, I spend most of my time with my husband and our son.  I have lived in New York, New Jersey, and California. We were not a military family, but some extended family members have been in the military.  My family moved to New Bern five years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area.  We like to hike, explore new areas and cities.  I like history, good food, festivals, the beach, the mountains, a variety of music and attending shows at the theater (musicals and dramatic).  I am looking forward to a great year.
